“Offers backwoods terror more in line with the gritty depravity of Deliverance than the B-movie schlock of The Hills Have Eyes.” —Paste Magazine

“CANNIBAL transcends the basic zombie story we all know and love, delving into the more complex, emotional, and moral side of cannibalism—the human side, if you will—through an ensemble cast of characters residing in the sleepy, Southern Gothic setting of Willow, Florida (now a ghost town in real life).” —SlackJaw Punks

“This is southern brewed horror with a dose of heartbreak.” —Horror Talk

HEAD LOPPER CONTINUES THIS MARCH WITH NEW STORY ARC

ACTION-PACKED QUARTERLY SERIES HEAD LOPPER CONTINUES THIS MARCH
Andrew MacLean’s fantasy series kicks off new story arc: “HEAD LOPPER and the CRIMSON TOWER”

Critically acclaimed cartoonist Andrew MacLean (ApocalyptiGirl) will launch a new story arc in his ongoing swords-and-sorcery-but-mostly-
swords quarterly series HEAD LOPPER this March.

In HEAD LOPPER #5, a daring new adventure awaits, looming like the Crimson Tower, home of Ulrich the Twice Damned, sworn enemy of Zhaania Kota Ka. With old friends and new, our heroes boldly enter the bloodied pinnacle with bare steel and steady hearts.

"HEAD LOPPER and the CRIMSON TOWER is an all-new HEAD LOPPER adventure that is chronological to HEAD LOPPER and the ISLAND or A PLAGUE of BEASTS,” said MacLean. “So, while returning readers will be excited to see a couple familiar faces, new readers should feel pretty comfortable hopping on board. Personally, I couldn't be more excited to start this new adventure. I hope you guys enjoy the ride.”

HEAD LOPPER #5, Cover A by MacLean (Diamond code: JAN170690) and Cover B by Tony Sandoval (Diamond code: JAN170691), hits comic book stores Wednesday, March 15th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, February 20th.

Select praise for HEAD LOPPER:
“MacLean’s high-contrast, minimalist art style is heavily inspired by Mignola’s work on Hellboy, although there’s a clean, animated quality to MacLean’s work that gives it a smoother look than Mignola’s increasingly rough art… could easily be mistaken for Mignola, with its haunting mood, stark composition, and atmospheric graphic elements in the web of branches above and inky water below, but there’s a roundness to MacLean’s style that makes his art less severe, which is much more appropriate for the lighter tone of his storytelling.” —The Onion’s A.V. Club

“MacLean’s art has the spirit of a woodcut and the flair of a late-night cartoon, and with one minimalist action sequence after another, it has head-lopped its way into my heart.” —Multiversity Comics

“Action-packed, bloody, and sometimes humorous, HEAD LOPPER is a solid fantasy epic the likes of which has to be seen to be believed.” —ComicsVerse

“HEAD LOPPER is a glorious visual buffet, filled to the brim with crazy action and intriguing characters.” —Comicosity

“MacLean’s crafted an inky scenario that reeks of potential crossover appeal.”
—Paste Magazine

STREET ANGEL, THE DEADLIEST GIRL ALIVE COMES TO IMAGE COMICS

STREET ANGEL, THE DEADLIEST GIRL ALIVE, COMES TO IMAGE COMICS
Teenage homeless ninja skater STREET ANGEL gets a new hardcover this April

Jesse “Street Angel” Sanchez, of webcomic fame, will grace/deface a full-color hardcover graphic novel for the first time this April, from the Eisner Award-winning creative team of Jim Rugg (The PLAIN Janes, Afrodisiac) and Brian Maruca (Afrodisiac).

Sanchez is a kung fu master on a skateboard and a homeless orphan failing seventh grade.

In STREET ANGEL: AFTER SCHOOL KUNG FU SPECIAL, Jesse takes the Ninja Kid to school! Her fists are the facts and his face is the report card! Meanwhile, Saturday night's the big dance and Jesse doesn't want to go! Is love in the air? No. No, it’s not.

Jim Rugg describes STREET ANGEL as "a cross between the A-Team, a xenomorph, and Lacey Baker. She loves food, fist fights, hanging out with friends Bell (a robot), Lilith (Satan's daughter), and Emma (a zombie), skateboarding, candy, pizza, nutraloaf, grilled cheese, General Tso's, french fries, beer, chips, moon pies, Twinkies, sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos, pancakes, spaghetti, mac & cheese, peanut butter, BBQ, wings, soda..."

Brian Maruca says "STREET ANGEL puts the fun back into being an orfun."

STREET ANGEL: AFTER SCHOOL KUNG FU SPECIAL HC (Diamond code: FEB170714, ISBN: 978-1-5343-0287-7) hits comic book stores on Wednesday, April 26th and bookstores on Tuesday, May 2nd. The final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, March 13th.

STREET ANGEL: AFTER SCHOOL KUNG FU SPECIAL HC  is available for preorder via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indiebound, and Indigo.

Select praise for STREET ANGEL:
"Jesse Sanchez is my new favorite comic book character. Great middle school dialogue and the battle scenes will blow your mind!” —Jeff Smith (Bone, RASL, Tuki)

“The writing is sharp, witty, and riddled with teenage angst—even as it lampoons the idea. The art is deceptively simple: the high-contrast, black-and-white work appears stark at first glance, but upon closer examination reveals a depth that is startlingly poignant in some stories and fabulously over-the-top in others.” —Booklist

“STREET ANGEL is pure, unadulterated punk.” —Multiversity Comics

“All I wanna do is see Street Angel punch people, forever.” —Eleanor Davis (Libby’s Dad, How to Be Happy)

"Jesse, aka Street Angel, is a rare gem in the male-dominated world of comic book characters. When you finally find a comic book hero that is female, and also skateboards and kicks ass, that's when you know young girls out there now have a strong super hero to follow. STREET ANGEL shows girls that they can be anything they want to be, including someone who saves the world and fights injustices, one bad guy at a time. She also defies female stereotypes right and left, and that is pretty darn cool." —Cindy Whitehead, founder of Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word

"STREET ANGEL remains as charming, inventive, and pitch-perfect as it was in the beginning. An indie-comics classic!" —Hope Larson (Compass South, Batgirl)

"With great style and flair, Rugg delivers another stellar story of the ever-sassy Jesse Sanchez, aka Street Angel.  Jam-packed with tween angst, humor, action, and fun, this book is a must-read for the rebel set." —Cecil Castellucci (Shade, the Changing Girl; The PLAIN Janes)

“STREET ANGEL pulsates with danger!” —Wendi Freeman, Double Page Spread podcast

POWERHOUSE CREATORS TEAM UP FOR ALL-NEW SERIES "BLACK CLOUD" THIS APRIL

POWERHOUSE CREATORS TEAM UP FOR ALL-NEW SERIES BLACK CLOUD THIS APRIL
Ivan Brandon, Jason Latour, Greg Hinkle, and Matt Wilson launch new fantasy series

Writers Ivan Brandon (DRIFTER, Wolverine) and Jason Latour (SOUTHERN BASTARDS, Spider-Gwen) team up with artist Greg Hinkle (THE RATTLER, AIRBOY) and colorist Matt Wilson (THE WICKED + THE DIVINE, PAPER GIRLS) for all-new dark fantasy series BLACK CLOUD this April from Image Comics.

“I think building this book has taken us all by surprise,” said Brandon. “This team makes my jaw drop, and it's been a surreal experience watching all of our different tastes and ideas link up to build something that feels like more than the sum of its parts. This is very different from anything we've ever done before. It's invigorating to be part of it.”

Hinkle added: “I’m thrilled to get to work with so many folks that I’ve looked up to for so long. It’s a learning experience in the best possible way, and I’m really excited to get to share the results.

Zelda was born in a world of dreams, and hers burned bigger than anyone had ever seen. Now she's on the run in our world, the dreams broken in her hands. But the pieces are for sale, the rich and the powerful are buying, and suddenly her world isn't the only place Zelda's running from.

“Even though it's conceived as a pretty unfettered comic book kind of idea, BLACK CLOUD just seems to grow to fit and reflect the life that's happening around us in real time,” said Latour. “With each passing day, we're reminded more and more of how the stories we consume and tell ourselves really do define our world. Just like real life, this is a story about fact and fiction fighting for supremacy—only here, one of them has a lightning sword."

Dreams come true—and today, they go to war.

BLACK CLOUD #1 (Diamond code: FEB170540) hits comic book stores on Wednesday, April 5th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, March 13th.

—Kelly Sue DeConnick (BITCH PLANET, PRETTY DEADLY)
“Making your dreams real is never easy, but with splashy art and spiky writing, BLACK CLOUD reminds us of the beauty and power of imagination in dark times.”
—Cliff Chiang (PAPER GIRLS, Wonder Woman)
"Brandon, Latour, Hinkle, Wilson, and the human underpinnings of story. A dream book, in every way." —Kieron Gillen (THE WICKED + THE DIVINE, Darth Vader)

At this point the power is in the hands of a seven year old girl, the daughter of a previous host who had been Mighty Man.”

SPACE MULLET CREATOR LAUNCHES NEW SERIES EXTREMITY
Daniel Warren Johnson brings epic tale to Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment

Writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson (Space Mullet) joins forces with colorist Mike Spicer and letterer Rus Wooton for EXTREMITY, an all-new post-apocalyptic tale of revenge, family, and true strength coming this March from Image Comics/Skybound Entertainment.

Thea dreams. Not of a better life, but of revenge on the clan that ruined her family. With ferocious battles between man, machines, and monsters ahead…who knows where her quest for vengeance will take her? Creator Daniel Warren Johnson and colorist Mike Spicer present a bold new vision, where the beauty and imagination of Studio Ghibli meet the intensity of Mad Max in this all-new Skybound Original.

“EXTREMITY is a comic that I've been working out for over three years,” said Johnson. “It's had many different variations as I've created it, but the final product is something I'm very proud of. There are scenes in this book that were a tremendous joy to draw, and I believe that joy is present in my story and in my lines.”

“Also,” added Johnson, “the color palette is incredible, thanks to my colorist Mike Spicer, who has done a WONDERFUL job elevating the visual aspect of the book beyond what I thought it could be. I hope you try it out and I hope you enjoy it!”

“People like Daniel Warren Johnson are rare,” said Sean Mackiewicz, Editorial Director at Skybound Entertainment. “It takes a split second to realize he’s an incredible artist, and he’s also an accomplished writer (see: Space Mullet). So Daniel’s the ideal type of creator we love to work with here at Skybound: bursting with ideas and talent, who just want us to give them the space to create and the platform for you all to read it.”

"Akira meets Lord of the Rings. I can't wait to read more." —Riley Rossmo (RASPUTIN)
