Magnolia Pictures will release TICKLED in theaters June 17th
One of the most talked-about films at this year’s Sundance Film Festival,
TICKLED begins with reporter David Farrier stumbling upon a
bizarre “competitive endurance tickling” video online, wherein young men
are paid to be tied up and tickled, and reaching out to request a story
from the company. But the reply he receives is
shocking—the sender mocks Farrier's sexual orientation and threatens
extreme legal action should he dig any deeper. So, like any good
journalist confronted by a bully, he does just the opposite: he travels
to the hidden tickling facilities in Los Angeles and
uncovers a vast empire, known for harassing and harming the lives of
those who protest their involvement in these films. The more he
investigates, the stranger it gets, discovering secret identities and
criminal activity.
Discovering
the truth becomes Farrier’s obsession, despite increasingly sinister
threats and warnings. With humor and determination, Farrier and
co-director
Dylan Reeve summon up every resource available to get to the bottom of
this tickling wormhole.
Rated R
“You’re
going to love it. What begins as a profile of a quirky subculture
becomes an online mystery-horror thriller, in which the bogeyman is
everywhere.”
“A surprisingly tense and increasingly weird detective story. Compelling, alternately painful and funny and deeply sad.”
– Lee Marshall, Screen Daily
“A
must-see documentary. Tickled is not at all what it seems. A secret
world full of villains and victims, power and deceit, and shocks and
surprises—you
just can’t make this stuff up.”

Hendrix is down on his luck and has failed to receive medical clearance after
taking a bullet on the job. Despite being highly trained and competent, his
efforts have been reduced to routine tasks for the NYPD. As if things couldn't
get any worse, he's been forced to babysit Brody Walker, a hard partying
celebrity that's been sent on a mandatory ride along as part of his probation. Pampered and irritating, Walker is the last
thing Hendrix needs. But all of that changes when a police training facility
comes under attack by a team of ruthless mercenaries led by the mysterious
Korver.
Now, Hendrix and Walker must band
together with the remaining survivors to fight back and keep the mercenaries
from overtaking the compound.... if they don't kill each other first.
Synopsis: It's Christmas Eve in Tinseltown and Sin-Dee (newcomer Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) is back on the block. Upon hearing that her pimp boyfriend (James Ransone, STARLET, "Generation Kill") hasn't been faithful during the 28 days she was locked up, the sex worker and her best friend, Alexandra (newcomer Mya Taylor), embark on a mission to get to the bottom of the scandalous rumor. Their rip-roaring odyssey leads them through various subcultures of Los Angeles, including an Armenian family dealing with their own repercussions of infidelity. Director Sean Baker’s prior films (STARLET, PRINCE OF BROADWAY) brought rich texture and intimate detail to worlds seldom seen on film. TANGERINE follows suit, bursting off the screen with energy and style. A decidedly modern Christmas tale told on the streets of L.A., TANGERINE defies expectation at every turn.
