MVD Entertainment Group furthers the distribution of Arrow Video in the US with several titles for April 2017. On April 18th comes The Night Evelyn Came Out Of The Grave  (Blu-ray and DVD) and The Red Queen Kills Seven Times (Blu-ray and DVD), two giallo chillers from director Emilio P. Miraglia which were previously only available in the limited edition box set entitled Killer Dames. Miraglian blends the grisly whodunnit of the giallo with gothic and supernatural elements to create some truly unique chills in tales of revenge from beyond the grave and killer curses.

One of Emilio P. Miraglia's supernatural, gothic gialli, The Night Evelyn Came Out Of The Grave delivers classic suspense with ghostly chills and creeping atmosphere, released in a stunning new 2K restoration from the original camera negative. The Red Queen Kills Seven Times is Emilio P. Miraglia's other twist on the giallo. The new 2K restoration from the original camera negative shows off this bloodthirsty whodunnit in all it's glory.

Now on to the rest...

CALTIKI THE IMMORTAL MONSTER [Blu-ray + DVD] (April 11th)

Arrow Video presents a collaboration between two giants of Italian cult cinema - Riccardo Freda (The Vampires, The Horrible Dr Hichcock) and Mario Bava (Five Dolls for an August Moon, Blood and Black Lace)!

A team of archaeologists led by Dr John Fielding (John Merivale, Circus of Horrors) descends on the ruins of an ancient Mayan city to investigate the mysterious disappearance of its inhabitants. However, the luckless explorers get more than they bargained for when their investigation of a sacrificial pool awakens the monster that dwells beneath its waters - the fearsome and malevolent god Caltiki.

Though Riccardo Freda received sole directing credit, a significant portion of the film was in fact the work of Mario Bava, who also served as its cinematographer and was responsible its striking special effects. Drawing on a diverse array of influences, from The Quatermass Experiment to the works of HP Lovecraft, Caltiki the Immortal Monster is a unique and unforgettable sci-fi chiller which showcases these two legendary filmmakers at their most inventive. Presented here for the first time in a newly restored high definition transfer, Caltiki shines - and terrifies! - like never before.

DONNIE DARKO LIMITED EDITION [Blu-ray + DVD] (April 18th)

Fifteen years before Stranger Things combined science-fiction, Spielberg-ian touches and 80s nostalgia to much acclaim, Richard Kelly set the template - and the high-water mark - with his debut feature, Donnie Darko. Initially beset with distribution problems, it would slowly find its audience and emerge as arguably the first cult classic of the new millennium.

Donnie is a troubled high school student: in therapy, prone to sleepwalking and in possession of an imaginary friend, a six-foot rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world is going to end in 28 days 06 hours 42 minutes and 12 seconds. During that time he will navigate teenage life, narrowly avoid death in the form of a falling jet engine, follow Frank's maladjusted instructions and try to maintain the space-time continuum.

Described by its director as "The Catcher in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick", Donnie Darko combines an eye-catching, eclectic cast - pre-stardom Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, heartthrob Patrick Swayze, former child star Drew Barrymore, Oscar nominees Mary McDonnell and Katherine Ross, and television favourite Noah Wyle - and an evocative soundtrack of 80s classics by Echo and the Bunnymen, Tears for Fears and Duran Duran. This brand-new 4K restoration, carried out exclusively for this release by Arrow Films, allows a modern classic to finally receive the home video treatment it deserves.
FEATURES
- Brand new 4K restorations of both the Theatrical Cut and the Director's Cut from the original camera negatives produced by Arrow Films exclusively for this release, supervised and approved by director Richard Kelly and cinematographer Steven Poster

- Original 5.1 audio
- Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing

- The Goodbye Place, Kelly's 1996 short film, which anticipates some of the themes and ideas of his feature films

WOLF GUY [Blu-ray + DVD] (April 25th)

Shinichi "Sonny" Chiba is a martial arts "manimal" in the ultra-70's, 100% bizarre mixture of horror, action and sci-fi that is Wolf Guy, one of the rarest and most sought-after cult films produced by Japan's Toei Studio. Based on a manga by Kazumasa Hirai (creator of 8 Man), and never before released outside of Japan, it's a genre film classic waiting to be discovered and a completely unclassifiable trip into phantasmagoric funk.

Chiba stars as Akira Inugami, the only survivor of a clan of ancient werewolves who relies on his supernatural powers to solve mysterious crimes. After a series of bloody killings perpetrated by an unseen force, Inugami uncovers a conspiracy involving a murdered cabaret singer, corrupt politicians, and a plot by the J-CIA to harvest his blood in order to steal his lycanthropic powers! At the same time, Inugami also discovers the truth behind his family heritage, and that he may not be the last of his kind.

Directed by B-movie genius Kazuhiko Yamaguchi (Sister Streetfighter, Wandering Ginza Butterfly, Karate Bear Fighter), Wolf Guy truly is one-of-a-kind, with Chiba in full effect as the part-man, part-wolf, all-karate action hero and a collection of familiar 1970's Toei actors in support. Violence, action, nudity, real surgical footage, and a psychedelic musical score all work together to create an unforgettable trip to the heights of Japanese cinematic weirdness.

DONNIE DARKO RETURNS TO THEATERS FOR ITS 15TH ANNIVERSARY RELEASE

Richard Kelly's Donnie Darko Returns to Theaters
Arrow Films Debuts 4K Restoration of Theatrical & Director's Cuts
Weeklong Runs in Los Angeles, New York and More

"Excitingly original indie vision" - Entertainment Weekly

"A mini-masterpiece" - Empire
Arrow Films has announced the March 31st domestic theatrical debut of the 4K restoration of Richard Kelly's cult hit Donnie Darko. Following a wildly successful re-release in the UK for its fifteenth anniversary, the film will return to theaters in cities across the United States. Fifteen years before "Stranger Things" combined science-fiction, Spielberg-ian touches and 80s nostalgia to much acclaim, Kelly set the template and the benchmark with his debut feature, Donnie Darko. Initially beset with distribution problems, it would slowly find its audience and emerge as arguably the first cult classic of the new millennium. The 4K restoration of Donnie Darko will premiere at the Vista in Los Angeles on March 30th, and officially open in Los Angeles at the Cinefamily and in New York at Metrograph on March 31st.

Described by director Richard Kelly as "The Catcher in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick", Donnie Darko combines an eye-catching, eclectic cast: pre-stardom Jake (Nightcrawler, Brokeback Mountain, Nocturnal Animals) and Maggie Gyllenhaal ("The Honourable Woman", The Dark Knight), Jena Malone (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Neon Demon), the late heartthrob Patrick Swayze (Dirty Dancing, Ghost), Drew Barrymore (E.T., "Grey Gardens", "Santa Clarita Diet") Oscar nominees Mary McDonnell (Dances With Wolves, Passion Fish, "Battlestar Galactica") and Katharine Ross (The Graduate, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Stepford Wives), and television favorite Noah Wyle ("ER", "Falling Skies") and an evocative soundtrack of 80s classics by Echo and the Bunnymen, Tears for Fears and Duran Duran.

The brand-new 4K restoration was produced by Arrow Films from the original camera negatives and supervised and approved by Kelly and cinematographer Steven Poster. The 4K restoration premiered to a packed audience at the National Film Theatre in London on December 17th, 2016, with an introduction by Richard Kelly. A screening of the Director's Cut followed the next day. The re-release opened nationwide in the UK on December 23rd, eventually grossing £70,000.
Both the theatrical cut and the director's cut are being made available to venues via a partnership with Cartilage Films, and locations will vary.

Donnie Darko will also return for weeklong runs in Denver, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Phoenix and San Francisco on March 31st, and in El Paso and Detroit on April 7.

Special screenings include Jacksonville, Austin, Dallas, Honolulu, Lubbock, Baton Rouge, Sioux Falls, Oklahoma City, Tucson, Durham and Stamford throughout March and April.

March 31st Theatrical Release:
The Cinefamily
611 N Fairfax Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90036

Metrograph
7 Ludlow St
New York, NY 10002

THEY’RE IN FOR THE FIGHT OF THEIR LIVES!

Release date:
In cinemas and VOD March 10th
On DVD and Digital Download April 24th
On Blu-ray April 24th

Fast Sell:
Prepare to sink your claws into CATFIGHT, a brutal and darkly hilarious film that combines the violence of Fight Club and the poignant comedy of Arrested Development, all mashed into one of the most original and funniest movies of recent years.

Key talent:
Anne Heche
(Donnie Brasco, Spread, Psycho)
Sandra Oh (Sideways, Grey’s Anatomy, Hard Candy)
Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Batman & Robin)
Dylan Baker (The Good Wife, Trick ‘r Treat, Happiness)
Damian Young (House of Cards, Californication)
Onur Tukel (Writer/director Summer Of Blood)

Synopsis:
Struggling artist Ashley (Anne Heche) and wealthy housewife Veronica (Sandra Oh) were friends at college, but their paths have not crossed since. When they find themselves attending the same event (Ashley working as a waiter at Veronica’s rich husband’s party), their initial thinly-veiled verbal pleasantries soon take a turn, leading to an all-out brawl and all-consuming rivalry that will keep these two locked in combat for years.

With supporting appearances from Alicia Silverstone as Ashley’s lesbian love interest, and Dylan Baker playing an overworked coma doctor, Catfight turns the portrayal of women’s fights in movies on its head in the most violent of ways possible, landing a killer satirical blow at modern day society.

We like it because:
“Cute isn’t truthful!”
Actor, writer, director and podcast provocateur Onur Tukel, a man of seemingly unending talents, starred in and was writer/director of the 2014 cult hit vampire comedy Summer of Blood, and the riotous comedy Applesauce. Now he’s assembled a knockout cast for the jaw-droppingly funny and furious New York-set black comedy CATFIGHT, a quite delirious rags to bitches satire that is equally scathing as it is shocking and unexpectedly violent.
Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh (Sideways) and Seven Days Seven Nights and Donnie Brasco star Anne Heche are on top form as former college pals whose unexpected meeting at a party escalates into insane and violent rivalry. These two esteemed actresses in a bloody brawl in a stairwell is a sight to behold; and Sandra Oh’s coming out of a coma scene is a masterclass of gallows humour. The ensuing flip-flop in fortunes of the warring women is an on-target and topical treat that confirms Tukel as a brilliantly canny writer/director.
Quirky and irreverent, and packed with quotable lines and familiar faces (including Alicia Silverstone as you’ve never seen her before, House of Card’s Damian Young and Happiness star Dylan Baker) Catfight recalls the films of Todd Solondz but with added nihilism and fist fighting. As one character says in the film – “It’s positively vulgar – but in a good way”.

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE'S AGFA ADDS ARROW FILMS, SEVERIN FILMS AND VINEGAR SYNDROME TO ITS THEATRICAL AVAILABLE LIST

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE'S AMERICAN GENRE FILM ARCHIVE ADDS ARROW FILMS, SEVERIN FILMS, AND VINEGAR SYNDROME TO ITS GROWING CATALOG OF THEATRICALLY AVAILABLE TITLES

American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) is the premiere destination for
repertory needs, making its massive and growing archive
available for theatrical bookings globally

Alamo Drafthouse's American Genre Film Archive, the largest non-profit genre film archive in the world, is making its biggest strides yet in 2017 in an effort to share exploitation films from the 1960s to the 2000s with the widest audience possible. AGFA has partnered with Arrow Films, Severin Films, and Vinegar Syndrome to distribute their respective catalogs theatrically on DCP, and in some cases, on 35mm. Many titles from these newly acquired catalogs are now available for theatrical bookings.

In 2016, AGFA proudly welcomed a new member to the family -- a Lasergraphics film scanner. In addition to scanning their own elements for release on home video and in theaters, AGFA now offers 4K and 2K scanning for 35mm and 16mm film elements. AGFA also announced last year that it would begin distributing titles theatrically and on home video in partnership with Seattle's Something Weird Video including The Zodiac Killer, a 1971 film made in the hopes of capturing the real-life Zodiac killer.

"We're incredibly excited about AGFA's expanding mission, with our growing catalog from the best genre labels on the planet, our ability to scan rare film prints in 4K, and the distribution of our own titles with Something Weird Video. We're making it easier than ever for exhibitors to share these films with audiences across the world as a one stop shop for the preservation and distribution of genre madness," said AGFA Director Joe Ziemba.

Arrow Films
Launched in 1991, Arrow Films is one of the most energetic and cutting edge forces in the world of genre movies. With a focus on fan-based products at its core, Arrow is dedicated to restoring original material through state- of-the-art techniques, as well as pioneering new packaging solutions and exclusive artwork for each release. Arrow is a friendly, family-based and respected entertainment company with a strong heritage and global ambitions. Titles in Arrow's catalog include movies like Mario Bava's hugely influential BLOOD AND BLACK LACE, the 1980s Thanksgiving trash-slasher BLOOD RAGE, and Japan's legendary FEMALE PRISONER SCORPION series.

Severin Films
Since their founding in 2006, Severin Films has become the foremost studio dedicated to rescuing, restoring and releasing the most provocative genre movies from around the world. With offices in Los Angeles and London, the company's international successes in DVD, Blu-Ray and niche theatrical films from Oscar nominees and cult icons alike has garnered applause in The Hollywood Reporter and the Onion AV Club, and led BlogCritics.org to proclaim, "Severin Films are well on their way to becoming the greatest indie label of all time." Titles in Severin's catalog include movies like Italian zombie benchmark BURIAL GROUND, Jess Franco's perverted vampire epic VAMPYROS LESBOS, and the twenty-first century mind-melter BIRDEMIC: SHOCK AND TERROR.

Vinegar Syndrome
Born in 2012, Vinegar Syndrome has quickly become internationally recognized as one of the leaders in the preservation and distribution of genre film from the 1960s through the 1980s. With a never-wavering goal of performing expert level preservations of grindhouse classics and obscurities, their work has been praised everywhere from The New York Times to Dangerous Minds. Alamo Drafthouse labeled Vinegar Syndrome "the Criterion Collection of exploitation/horror/ weirdo movies." Titles in Vinegar Syndrome's catalog include movies like James Bryan's D.I.Y. slasher hit DON'T GO IN THE WOODS, Rudy Ray Moore's incredible DOLEMITE series, and the subversive holiday horror classick CHRISTMAS EVIL.
