IS IT ITALIAN OR IS IT SPANISH? Mozz revisits PIECES!

"Young co-eds are being cut up by a chainsaw killer on a college campus. The killer is attempting to put together a human jigsaw puzzle made from body parts." - IMDB
After reading please check out my hilarous and informative complete review of this film that I contributed to www.docterror.com for his yearly gorefest known as Italian Horror Week. The review can also be seen here

 Let's begin...

In the early 80′s Italian cinema was known to over plagiarize American horror movies. You can say it kicked off with Lucio Fulci’s Zombi 2 which claimed to be a direct sequel to Dawn of the Dead, thanks to the retitling of Argento's cut known in  Italy as Zombi, and culminating with more than a few done by Joe D’Amato, possibly the biggest hack (and I'm not complaining. In fact I'm Thankful for these films) that country has ever offered horror. With his already highly popularized films Anthropophagus and Absurd, Joe took a back seat to allow Juan Piquer Simon fill in as director for his next attempt to cash in on the current trend, with his 1982 splatter gagfest "Pieces". Mostly a rip off of Nightmare in a Damaged Brain by Romano Scavolini, Pieces focuses on an unknown killer with obvious mommy issues, goreliciously awesome and cheer worthy murders, and more plot twists and turns than a swing dance contest in a way that only D’Amato could write and produce.
The breakdown is like this: Joe D'Amato wrote the screenplay and produced the film. It was made with Italian money. Juan Piquer Simon directed. IMDB credits country of origin of the film as Italian/Spanish/Puerto Rico San Juan/ USA.
Now Tell Me.... Is it ITALIAN or is it SPANISH?!?!?!
