ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE'S AGFA ADDS ARROW FILMS, SEVERIN FILMS AND VINEGAR SYNDROME TO ITS THEATRICAL AVAILABLE LIST

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE'S AMERICAN GENRE FILM ARCHIVE ADDS ARROW FILMS, SEVERIN FILMS, AND VINEGAR SYNDROME TO ITS GROWING CATALOG OF THEATRICALLY AVAILABLE TITLES

American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) is the premiere destination for
repertory needs, making its massive and growing archive
available for theatrical bookings globally

Alamo Drafthouse's American Genre Film Archive, the largest non-profit genre film archive in the world, is making its biggest strides yet in 2017 in an effort to share exploitation films from the 1960s to the 2000s with the widest audience possible. AGFA has partnered with Arrow Films, Severin Films, and Vinegar Syndrome to distribute their respective catalogs theatrically on DCP, and in some cases, on 35mm. Many titles from these newly acquired catalogs are now available for theatrical bookings.

In 2016, AGFA proudly welcomed a new member to the family -- a Lasergraphics film scanner. In addition to scanning their own elements for release on home video and in theaters, AGFA now offers 4K and 2K scanning for 35mm and 16mm film elements. AGFA also announced last year that it would begin distributing titles theatrically and on home video in partnership with Seattle's Something Weird Video including The Zodiac Killer, a 1971 film made in the hopes of capturing the real-life Zodiac killer.

"We're incredibly excited about AGFA's expanding mission, with our growing catalog from the best genre labels on the planet, our ability to scan rare film prints in 4K, and the distribution of our own titles with Something Weird Video. We're making it easier than ever for exhibitors to share these films with audiences across the world as a one stop shop for the preservation and distribution of genre madness," said AGFA Director Joe Ziemba.

Arrow Films
Launched in 1991, Arrow Films is one of the most energetic and cutting edge forces in the world of genre movies. With a focus on fan-based products at its core, Arrow is dedicated to restoring original material through state- of-the-art techniques, as well as pioneering new packaging solutions and exclusive artwork for each release. Arrow is a friendly, family-based and respected entertainment company with a strong heritage and global ambitions. Titles in Arrow's catalog include movies like Mario Bava's hugely influential BLOOD AND BLACK LACE, the 1980s Thanksgiving trash-slasher BLOOD RAGE, and Japan's legendary FEMALE PRISONER SCORPION series.

Severin Films
Since their founding in 2006, Severin Films has become the foremost studio dedicated to rescuing, restoring and releasing the most provocative genre movies from around the world. With offices in Los Angeles and London, the company's international successes in DVD, Blu-Ray and niche theatrical films from Oscar nominees and cult icons alike has garnered applause in The Hollywood Reporter and the Onion AV Club, and led BlogCritics.org to proclaim, "Severin Films are well on their way to becoming the greatest indie label of all time." Titles in Severin's catalog include movies like Italian zombie benchmark BURIAL GROUND, Jess Franco's perverted vampire epic VAMPYROS LESBOS, and the twenty-first century mind-melter BIRDEMIC: SHOCK AND TERROR.

Vinegar Syndrome
Born in 2012, Vinegar Syndrome has quickly become internationally recognized as one of the leaders in the preservation and distribution of genre film from the 1960s through the 1980s. With a never-wavering goal of performing expert level preservations of grindhouse classics and obscurities, their work has been praised everywhere from The New York Times to Dangerous Minds. Alamo Drafthouse labeled Vinegar Syndrome "the Criterion Collection of exploitation/horror/ weirdo movies." Titles in Vinegar Syndrome's catalog include movies like James Bryan's D.I.Y. slasher hit DON'T GO IN THE WOODS, Rudy Ray Moore's incredible DOLEMITE series, and the subversive holiday horror classick CHRISTMAS EVIL.

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE TRANSFORMS SEPTEMBER INTO "SEPTEMBURTON"

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE TRANSFORMS SEPTEMBER INTO "SEPTEMBURTON"

Peculiarly gifted director Tim Burton to be celebrated with a month of film screenings, food and drink specials, Mondo pins,
commemorative issue of  BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH., featuring cover art by Burton himself, and a "Filmmaking Frenzy" contest

Director Tim Burton returns to the big screen this September with MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN. The film, which plays this year's Fantastic Fest, is the latest in the director's long line of singularly imaginative, sweetly off-kilter films. In honor of this occasion -- and in the spirit of pure, plain fun at the movies -- Alamo Drafthouse has created "Septemburton," dedicating September to celebrating the artist/director/magician/visionary and his cinematic creations with film screenings, exclusive Mondo pins, in-theater food & drink specials and an all-Burton edition of Alamo Drafthouse's collectible magazine, BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH.-- featuring cover art by the man himself.

Septemburton kicks off with "BURTONIZE THIS!," a Burton-inspired "Filmmaking Frenzy" contest where filmmakers are invited to 'Burtonize' famous films by referencing his characters and visual motifs to create a thirty second bumper. The contest runs August 15 through September 6. The winning bumper will be shown before select film screenings at this year's Fantastic Fest, which kicks off September 22 in Austin. See the full details at filmmakingfrenzy.com.

All September -- or SEPTEMBURTON -- Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide will feature retrospective screenings of vintage Burton films, including his gothic, genre-igniting 1989 BATMAN; "ghost with the most" BEETLEJUICE; the uncommonly gentle man EDWARD SCISSORHANDS; the timeless story of a rebel and his bike, PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE -- and more.

In addition to regular shows on the big screen, BATMAN, BEETLEJUICE, and PEE-WEE will also be found in interactive "Movie Party" presentations, complete with a celebratory -- but still respectful -- atmosphere, pre-movie contests, fourth wall-breaking props for audiences, and other surprises. Coming in costume is very much encouraged.

"Tim Burton is a singular filmmaker. Throughout his entire career he has infused his films with a thoroughly distinct magic that only he can create," says Tim League, Alamo Drafthouse Founder and CEO. "The look, the feel, the emotions... They're complete, fully realized worlds and unmistakably Burton. I'm pleased we can dedicate an entire month to celebrating his vision and artistry in a big way."

Fans will be able to wear their love for Burton on their sleeves... or lapels... or wherever with a collection of brand-new enamel pins from Mondo. The first set features three stunning pins designed by artist Matt Ryan Tobin and inspired by EDWARD SCISSORHANDS. It includes Edward's precarious Right and Left hands, along with a masterfully trimmed T-Rex Hedge. The second set, designed by artist Oliver Barrett, is a tiny copy of BEETLEJUICE's The Handbook for the Recently Deceased. Both pin sets will be available as ticket add-ons to Alamo Drafthouse shows and through the Mondo website.

Then, both the curious and the devoted can travel deep down the rabbit hole of the director's enchanting world with an all-Burton edition of BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH. magazine. The collectible movie magazine comes packed with page upon page of in-depth essays and articles on the director's films, motifs, and inspirations, along with gorgeous full-color artwork and stunning design -- not to mention a cover featuring artwork from Burton himself!! The magazine will also be available as a ticket add-on, through the Mondo website, and at Alamo Drafthouse box offices for a limited time.

This feast of Burton won't just be for the eyes, either. The SEPTEMBURTON celebration will also feature a menu of fantastical food and drinks inspired by the cinematic world of Burton. Fully ingest the magic with specials like the spirit-raising "Sandwich for the Recently Deceased," Coca-Cola braised pork in "Beetlejuice" sauce on garlic-herb toasted ciabatta, piled with pickled onions, arugula, and radish slices; the artfully crafted "Scissor Chopped Salad," romaine and cabbage, topped with croutons, bleu cheese dressing and shish kabob vegetables; indulge with the "Shake, Shake, Shake Senora," a vanilla ice cream-based adult milkshake richly blended with ginger liqueur, Averna Amaro, dark chocolate, and Oreo crumbles; or dance with the devil with "The Pale Moonlight," a gin-based cocktail with cointreau, lemon, and crème de violet.

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE ANNOUNCES "THE SHALLOWS" DIVE IN ON THE WATER

ALAMO ANNOUNCES
"THE SHALLOWS"
SNEAK PEEK "DIVE-IN" ON THE WATER

Sony Pictures and Alamo invite those brave enough to experience
the new thriller in a terrifyingly immersive way

Alamo Drafthouse and Sony Pictures want you to face your fears fin-on this summer. If the trailer for THE SHALLOWS caused you to white-knuckle the arms of your seat, then imagine watching the new thriller starring Blake Lively as a stranded surfer facing off against a hungry great white while you yourself float on the open water, your feet dangling deliciously off the edge off of your inner tube...

That's exactly how those brave enough to participate will experience THE SHALLOWS at Alamo's exclusive "Dive-In" Sneak Preview on June 28 at Next Level Ride in Del Valle, TX, just outside of Austin.

With their signature JAWS ON THE WATER screenings also returning this summer, the Alamo knew they had to seize the opportunity to present THE SHALLOWS in glorious fourth wall-breaking terror, too.

"As soon as we saw the teaser for THE SHALLOWS, we knew what we wanted to do: take our JAWS ON THE WATER concept a step further for an insanely fun, completely terrifying one night-only DIVE-IN experience," says Henri Mazza, Alamo VP of Special Events. "I mean, watching THE SHALLOWS for the first time before we know what's going to happen and when, and floating in water? Yikes."

Before the show, there'll be plenty of opportunities for the audience to relax - and steel their nerves -with themed activities, gourmet eats from local food trucks, and drinks in the Lone Star Beer Garden.

In the film, Blake Lively stars as Nancy, a lone surfer on a secluded beach who finds herself on the feeding ground of a great white shark. Stranded only 200 yards from shore, survival proves to be the ultimate test of wills, requiring all of Nancy's ingenuity, resourcefulness, and fortitude.  The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, written by Anthony Jaswinski, and produced by Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem.

All tickets include an exclusively designed keepsake inner tube to float on during the show. After the movie, audience members can take them home to use at the beach, pool, or on their next Texas tubing adventure... or, better yet, to show off as a trophy to prove they survived THE SHALLOWS in the shallows.

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE TO RELEASE THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF RAIDERS! THE STORY OF THE GREATEST FAN FILM EVER MADE

Check out this very impressive shot-for-shot match of the original trailer for RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (celebrating its 35th Anniversary next week!) and the RAIDERS Adaptation created by Chris Strompolos, Eric Zala and Jayson Lamb.

Drafthouse Films' fascinating and heartfelt documentary RAIDERS!: THE STORY OF THE GREATEST FAN FILM EVER MADE tells the story of a trio of kids in the 80s who spent seven years of their lives making a faithful shot-for-shot adaptation of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. It opens in theaters and on VOD on June 17.

Additionally, the two stars of the film, Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala, are touring across the United States on the Raiders: Follow Your Dreams Tour with a double feature screening of the documentary PLUS the original Adaptation. They are currently visiting 35+ cities this summer with more stops being added. Dates & more info listed below.

Synopsis:
After Steven Spielberg's classic Raiders of the Lost Ark was released 35 years ago, three 11-year-old boys from Mississippi set out on what would become a 7-year-long labor of love and tribute to their favorite film: a faithful, shot-for-shot adaptation of the action adventure film. They finished every scene...except one; the film's explosive airplane set piece. Over two decades later, the trio reunited with the original cast members from their childhood in order to complete their masterpiece. Featuring interviews with John Rhys Davies, Eli Roth and more, Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made is just that: the story of this long-gestating project's culmination, chronicling the friends' dedication to their artistic vision-mixed in with some movie magic-to create a personal, epic love letter to a true modern classic.

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE ANNOUNCES THE WITCH AS LATEST "DRAFTHOUSE RECOMMENDS" TITLE

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE ANNOUNCES THE WITCH
AS LATEST "DRAFTHOUSE RECOMMENDS" TITLE
A24's groundbreaking new horror film debuts at Alamo locations nationwide on 2/18 - and inspires a tempting dessert special for the month of February.
Plus, select locations will host screenings of witchcraft horror classics
to get audiences in the spirit.
Austin, TX - Feb 3, 2016 - The Alamo Drafthouse is excited to announce A24's chilling new horror film THE WITCH as the latest Drafthouse Recommends title. The film will open at Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide with "sneak preview" screenings on the night of Feb 18, 2016. In the lead up to that opening date, select Alamo locations will also host free retrospective screenings of witchcraft horror classics to get audiences in the, er, spirit and to set the stage for director Robert Eggers' debut feature and groundbreaking new take on the genre.
And, for a limited time this month, Alamo audiences will be able to order up a sinful desert inspired by the film - The Raspberry & Goat Cheese Tart. Without giving anything away, a goat plays a significant role in the film - and in witchcraft and satanic lore in general - and this rustic tart, created by Alamo chef Trish Eichelberger, filled with sweetened goat cheese and raspberries is a fitting, subtle tribute.

Drafthouse Recommends is Alamo's own spotlight for groundbreaking, innovative and intelligent first run films - or, simply, new movies that Drafthouse loves and wants everyone to go see. Previous Drafthouse Recommends selections include PEACE OFFICER, IT FOLLOWS, BIRDMAN, BOYHOOD, and SPRING BREAKERS.

Winner of the Best Director Prize at Sundance last year, THE WITCH is an exquisitely made and terrifying new horror film, bringing the age-old concepts of witchcraft, black magic and possession together in an innovative new way to tell the intimate and riveting story of one family's frightful unraveling in the New England wilderness circa 1630 - decades before the Salem Witch Trails.

"I sat with a white-knuckle grip on my armrests during Sundance last year as THE WITCH debuted and thought to myself, now THIS is an incredible new voice in horror," says Alamo founder and CEO Tim League. "Robert Eggers has crafted a brilliant, richly detailed and genuinely creepy universe in his debut feature film that rivals or surpasses any horror movie in recent memory.  THE WITCH is a modern-day classic."
