SWORD OF VENGEANCE (2015)

Synopsis: "The subjects of a ruthless tyrant's oppression discover an unlikely freedom fighter whose code of honor demands bloody retribution."

It is overly apparent that this is by the same person who created Hammer of the Gods. As far as the story itself goes, it is very similar. The "vengeance" angle wasn't really touched on until half way through the movie and was only thoroughly explained when one character tells of a story they'd heard. There was nothing definitive to tell the viewer what was going on. The warrior seemed more like a vigilante than someone out for justice. There is a nice build up to an end that I felt fell a bit short and was a bit predictable.

Flaws in the story aside, this is a movie I would still recommend based solely on the fight scenes.  One of the strong aspects of this movie is that it relies more on the battles than it does the story and in that area, it did not disappoint. Whether it be 1 on 1, 4 on 1, or the full on blood bath battles, the fights were very well choreographed and shot just right.

If you have seen Hammer of the Gods or Valhalla Rising, this is definitely a movie worth checking out. Which you can do so today by simply finding it on your local ondemand provider and renting this film tonight!
