Festival darling directed by Roberto San Sebastian will be released on June 12th
Cleopatra Entertainment has acquired all North American rights to the horror-comedy film NIGHT OF THE VIRGIN. Directed by Roberto San Sebastian, produced by Kevin Iglesias and written by Guillermo Guerrero, NIGHT OF THE VIRGIN stars Javier Bodalo, Miriam Martin, Victor Amilibia and Ignatius Farray, with Rocio Suarez rounding out the cast. The film is set to be released on multiple VOD platforms on June 12th.
NIGHT OF THE VIRGIN has been honored with thirteen festival awards, including Best Film at Nightmares Film Festival in Columbus, Best Feature Film at Morbido Fest in Mexico City, Best Movie at Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival in Slovenia, Best Horror Comedy Feature at Atlanta Horror Film Festival, and Best Foreign Language Film at A Night of Horror International Film Festival in Sydney. Lead actor Bodalo also won Best Actor at A Night of Horror International and Fantaspoa International Fantastic Film Festivals.
The film follows Nico, a naïve twenty year old, who is determined to lose his virginity at a New Year’s Eve party. When he finds Medea, a cunning and attractive mature woman, he follows her home with the promise of finally losing his virginity. There’s only one problem. Instead of celebratory sex, he receives an intense lecture about the Nepalese goddess Naoshi and finds a cup of menstrual blood in the bathroom. Things go from perverse to worse when Medea’s jealous boyfriend arrives, trapping Nico in the apartment with the steadily growing suspicion that Naoshi is no myth.
The deal was brokered by Cleopatra Founder and CEO Brian Perera, Tim Yasui, VP/GM of Cleopatra Entertainment, and by Julian Richards, Kevin Law of Jinga Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
NIGHT OF THE VIRGIN will also be released on DVD on July 10th.
