CHECK OUT THE TRAILER FOR STEVE KAHN'S NEWEST SHORT FILM "FEAR"!!!!!!

FEAR is a visually striking poetic film on the universal emotion that can hit us when we let insignificant little incidents spin wildly out of control.

My film is a visual piece on the nature of fear - how seemingly innocent little things in our lives can swirl and twist and wind uncontrollably into mammoth proportions. Rather than a traditional plot the film is meant to be a poem on the fear cascade that we can all can experience. I return to the
cascade theme again again whether it be blood swirling down the drain or her spinning around, or the doorknob spinning on the ground or her actions spinning from shaving her legs to washing her hair, then taking a bath.

Even her dialog is swirling at times which reflects her state of mind - she wants her lover there but when she thinks he is she decides to take a bath, for example. ”He’s mad, he’s always mad. Don’t start.” reflects that as well where I bring her inner dialog out about her relationship with her 'love' as she calls him. She chastises him for being mad then chastises herself for chastising him.
Finally the last spinning she goes through is on the stairs when her candle goes out (her candle symbolizing her light of truth and equanimity). To me the lightning storm is both the chaos of the mind as well as fear in general. At this point I wished her to look at fear straight in the eye, unflinching as she overcame it then proceeded to the basement.

What starts out as a mission to find her dog and run away ends up as one in facing her own inner demons. To do that she has to bravely go into the demon pit (the basement) but all the while maintain her composure and equanimity. The problem is there is a little gust of wind (impossible on basement stairs which shows this is really just a weakening in her own mind) which blows the candle out and her fears quickly rush back in. She sees the dreaded face - the face the represents evil in her subconscious mind - and faints falling down the stairs to the bottom to her death
