HORROR, SCI-FI AND MORE PRESENTS: ALL HALLOW'S EVE PART 2: THE RETURN OF THE 31 DAYS OF HORROR.....DAY 2.

Day 2: Paranoia Sinks In.....

The second choice has fallen to me and I have selected this cult classic....

Originally Madman was suppose to be based on the Cropsy killer legend, but when word reached the production that the film The Burning (1981) was being based on the same legend the script was re-written.

The production originally wanted Vincent Price for the role of Max.

Although passed uncut for UK cinema by the BBFC the VRO pre-cert video was briefly seized by Hampshire police during the 1980's video nasty scare, though without any prosecutions made. It was later released fully uncut on DVD by Anchor Bay in 2002.

Paul Ehlers's son Jonathan Ehlers was born during the shooting of the movie. Paul received the news that his wife was in labor while filming a scene in full Madman Marz make-up. Paul went immediately to the hospital and held his newborn son for the first time while still wearing some of his Marz make-up and overalls covered with fake blood.

According to Paul Ehlers, the fake feet he wore as part of his Madman Marz costume were very slippery and nearly caused him to fall out of the tree in the shot where Madman watches the campers in the woods.

Tony Fish would actually choke himself by tying a rubber band around his neck for the hanging scene. The idea was to make himself look as realistically dead as possible, so the pale color of his face was authentic. Joe Giannone worried at times that Tony would make himself pass out during takes.
