One week down and I didn't do too bad with 49 points but I know I can do better but with my limitations due to work related needs and everything else going on I will have to just try. This week I watched some movies I haven't seen in a long time and I will say that it was a fun week to say the least doing this and having to wildest week for All Hallow's Eve this week. Trust me when I say the movies we picked I would've never thought we'd go with. But I am here to give my update on my second week for Madness so here we go.
Sunday Oct. 11th
Movie #11: Jeepers Creepers (2001)
It's been A LONG time since I last watched Jeepers Creepers. Not really long as in 14 years more like 6-7 years. I just for some reason wanted to go back and re-watch this movie and I saw why I really liked this movie. I remember sitting in the theater watching this movie and it still holds up when I watch it at home. The story follows a brother and sister duo as they travel through Nebraska to get home but end up becoming the next targeted victims of the Creeper. As you can guess fear is what fuels the desires of the Creeper and he soon gets what he wants. Exactly how the movie ends on a down note because some times good shouldn't always end a movie.
(Normal points:2. Character goes down tunnel willingly: 3. Part of the movie in a tunnel/pit: 3. Monster appears at night in true form: 3. More than twice movie descends into darkness:6. Creeper lives in cave: 9.) (total points=26)
Movie #12: Warlock (1989)
This movie doesn't need an introduction because if you haven't seen it then you truly live under a rock and need to see it. Follows a Warlock whose sentenced to death for his actions in causing someone to turn into a witch themselves. He is soon assisted by Satan and thrown through time to the twentieth century (1989) but he is followed by Giles Redferne the husband of the woman he bewitched. As a cat and mouse game ensues the Warlock attempts to unlock the Grand Grimoire and
erase all human existence. Hands down the movie is a classic in my eyes and needs to be seen again and again.
(Normal points: 2. David Twohy bonus: 1. Supernatural elements: 1.) (total points=4)
Movie #13:
Horror anthology that is comprised of 4 shorts that were originally meant for the television show Darkroom but the network deemed them to dark for television and they kept them off and used them to make this movie. Shorts dealing with things like a killer in the backseat, a video game, a priest whose lost his faith but is terrorized by a black car and a family forced to fight a giant rat.
(Normal points: 2.) (total points=2)
Television Show: The Walking Dead Season 6 Ep. 1: First Time Again
(Points= 1.5)
Monday Oct. 12th
Movie #14: The Howling 2 (985)
A sequel to the 1981 film The Howling. This film doesn't follow the novel its based off of in fact its pretty much just the name of the book slapped on a weird and wild werewolf film. Story follows Ben whose the brother of Karen from the first movie as he tries to figure out what his sister got herself into and it takes him to Transylvania not for vampires but werewolves. A little odd but I'll take it and lets face it Christopher Lee pops up in it and funny fact is he later apologized to director Joe Dante for starring in this movie.
(Normal points: 2. Christopher Lee bonus: 1. Ancient tomb: 3. Creature attacks at night: 3. Supernatural elements/parasite: 3.) (total points=12)
Tuesday Oct. 13th.
Movie #15: Black Sheep (2006)
I've seen some animal movies that have made me second guess the genre as laughable but this film has made me love that subgenre a little more because its the sheep that don't look so bad but what if they were vicious killing machines? This film is a black comedy slash horror movie that has you laughing your ass off through out the film.
(Normal points: 2. Character falls into pit: 3. Characters use tunnel system: 3.) (total points=8)
Wednesday Oct. 14th
Movie #16: The Addams Family (1991)
If you were a kid from my generation you were allowed to watch the re-runs of the Addams Family television show and as fun as it could be you never expected them to make a movie based off this show but they did. Re-watching this film brought back that nostalgic feelings I had when I was 11. Over time this film has stood the test of time as I watched it with my kid and she loved it.
(Normal points: 2. Tombs/Catacombs bonus: 3. Hidden Passages: 3.Supernatural element magical book: 3) (total points=11)
Thursday Oct. 15th
Movie #17: Body Parts (1991)
This film stands out because its nature in advertising was yanked because of the Dahmer slayings that occurred during its time. A little shocking that a movie about a serial killer whose body parts are taken and given to people who needed them only for said parts to come back to life on their own and lead to some scary and freaky stuff. This film is a personal favorite of mine and I recommend it to anyone whose is a fan of Brad Dourif and Jeff Fahey.
(Normal Points: 2) (total points=2)
Friday Oct. 16th
Movie #18: Body Bags (1993)
My second anthology film for the week came thanks to Bobby who blindly made his pick for All Hallow's Eve without looking at the pick from the previous day which was Body Parts. This would be my last movie for the week because I had way too much on the DVR and had to watch it all. But this film was a made for television film pretty much cable television channel Showtime who wanted to do a Tales from the Crypt style show but after some debate they dropped it and put the already 3 filmed segments together to make a film. John Carpenter, Mark Hamill, Stacy Keach, Wes Craven, Sam Raimi, Roger Corman, Deborah Harry, Greg Nicotero and a few others all star in this film.
(Normal points: 2. Wes Craven bonus: 1. Killer attacks at night: 3.) (total points=6)
Saturday Oct. 17th
(normal points 1episode: 1. witch hiding in cave: 3) (total points=4)
(normal points 2 episodes: 2. killer attacks under cover of darkess: 3. someone gets walled-up: 3. hidden passage: 3. Monster pops out of bed mattress: 3. main character is blind due to outage: 3.)
(total points=14)
(normal points: 1) (total points=1)
